X - The Man With The X-Ray Eyes

Dr. James Xavier (Ray Milland) is a brilliant but unorthodox researcher whose work with human sight has yielded an experimental chemical that may vastly increase the range of what we can see. Despite the misgivings and warnings of the two people closest to him, Dr. Diane Fairfax (Diana Van Der Vlis) and Dr. Sam Brant (Harold J. Stone), he uses it on himself and finds that he is able to look inside the human body in real-time. This gives him the ability to save the life of a patient in surgery, but in the process, he offends a top physician and calls his own judgement into question. He won't stop or even slow his experiments, however, and when Sam is accidentally killed trying to stop him, he is forced to flee. Soon he is living the life of a hunted man, and is protected and exploited by Crane (Don Rickles), a larcenous carny-man who sets him up as a "healer" on skid row, taking peoples' pennies while Xavier makes his diagnoses. After getting away from Crane, Xavier is found by Diane, who joins him on the run, and by now his own worst nature is coming to the surface. They head to Las Vegas, where his ability to see through objects allows him to win at most of the games in front of him, but he is discovered because of the attention that his "streak" draws to him. Pursued out of town, he heads out to the desert, and by now his ability to see transcends the boundaries of earthly space, leading him to a terrible quandry and a hideous solution to his plight, inspired by an encounter with a preacher.

No sec. XX dá-se o auge na procura da perfeição feminina, da publicidade ao cinema somos bombardeados com imagens de sensualidade e a representação da mulher moderna, bem ao gosto da moda actual e do estereótipo do perfeito. Para Kenji Mizoguchi e certamente muitos Japoneses esta é uma mulher belíssima, uma princesa que com a sua beleza enfeitiça um pobre oleiro. Quanto a nos ocidentais será que nos revemos por esta sensualidade sem pestanas e branca como a morte?

A morte também pode ser Bizarra? O grande escritor francês Balzac morreu a 18 de Agosto de 1850, tinha então 51 anos. È uma pena um génio morrer tão novo. Mas não são os seus consagrados dotes da escrita que o trazem a este blogue e sim as causas da sua morte, 40 chávenas de café por dia levaram-no a 7 palmos debaixo da terra, ou pelo menos é o que alguns acreditam. Pouco mais de 150 anos depois as causas de morte ainda estão por explicar, mas esta versão é no mínimo peculiar….

Bushwick Bill

Richard Shaw, better known as Bushwick Bill, is a dwarf and member of the rap group Geto Boys. He also has been known to refer to himself as "Dr. Wolfgang Von Bushwickin the Barbarian Mother Funky Stay High Dollar Billstir."
Bushwick Bill was born on December 8, 1966, in Kingston, Jamaica.
The most well-known happening was Bill's shooting accident, where he lost his right eye. One night in May 1991, while depressed, drunk and suicidal, Bill went to his girlfriend's house and forced her to shoot him. As she refused, Bill threatened to harm their baby. After a struggle the gun went off piercing Bill's eye and was stuck inside his head. Bill survived the accident, but lost his eye.

The whole story is told in detail in the song "Ever So Clear" and there is also a visualising music video to the song. The song name is a reference to the grain alcohol Everclear he was drinking at the time of the accident. While in hospital, a picture was taken for The Geto Boys' next album "We Can't Be Stopped". On the picture the two other Geto Boys—Willie D and Scarface—push Bill in a gurney down a hospital hall and the blooded swollen eye can clearly be seen.
According to his MySpace page, Bushwick Bill has disowned his gangsta rap past and is now a born-again Christian. He is working on a Christian rap album entitled Testimony of Redemption.
